Adoptable foster siblings Vera and Pepper are still on the search for their furever homes!

Miss Pepper is a 10 year old, 15 lb blind miniature poodle mix. Despite her lack of vision, she is one of the easiest dogs. She is housebroken and does not need to be crated. She is so sweet and gentle. She loves everyone she meets from humans to dogs to cats! Basically, if it loves her, she loves it. She has a slow pace to life and loves to relax. Pepper loves to sleep and snuggle. She is happy to lay with her person on the couch or bed but also can find her own bed and nap by herself. Vera is a sweet, timid 12 year old chihuahua who is looking for a special family. She is lower energy and a little love once she gets comfortable. Vera weighs about 12 lbs. Vera needs a patient family who will allow her time to warm up. She startles easily so would do best in a home without small children. She does well with other small dogs although she doesn’t love to share her food or bed. She was diagnosed with severe cardiac issues and is on daily medications. Although the average survival rate for a heart like hers is 12 months (can range between 6-18 months), we are hoping that we can still find her a furever home to live a well-loved, quality life for however long she has left. We’ve got some new friends over here at SDH&H! Meet Jack and Sam who are currently being watched over by our hospice pup, Sam! The chair of SDH&H welcomed these two cuties last week. 🎉 She will be temporarily stepping back to adjust to life with two more kiddos, but we’ve got a whole team of board members and volunteers who will be covering for her! This little girl joined SDH&H three months ago. Bess was left for death at a shelter by her family - skin and bones due to untreated diabetes, her beautiful white fur gone, blind and deaf.
