The mission of Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is to rescue and re-home senior dogs (age 7 and older) and to offer hospice care to rescued senior dogs in our program.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that incorporated in June 2012. SDH&H is an all volunteer foster based organization located in Delaware. Our goal is to be there for the older dogs who have been abandoned at a time in their life when their need for comfort, companionship and care is at it’s highest.
Mugsy is doing so well in his foster home! He has settled in to life at his family’s house and knows the routine. He gets along with everyone big and small but isn’t big on playing. He would rather do his own thing and take in the sights, sounds and smells around him. He wants to be near his people and as long as he can see you, he is perfectly fine. Just don’t try to close the door and shut him out. He will make sure you understand his annoyance with it! He is fantastic when his family leaves the house though. He just lays down and naps all day. He will bark at meal time if his foster mom isn’t fast enough serving his meal. He prefers prompt service. 🤣 Your majesty 👑 is scheduled for his dental, and then he will be ready for his forever home! ... See MoreSee Less
Boomer is recovering from his neuter and dental surgeries. He did well during his surgery and was so happy to return to his foster home afterwards. Boomer is a lovely dog with a great temperament. He is great with people and big and small dogs. He was a hit at our event this past weekend and enjoyed greeting everyone! He has a great appetite and loves to make new friends. He is working on his house training, which we are hopeful will improve now that he’s neutered! Stay tuned for an upcoming adoption bio for this sweetheart! ... See MoreSee Less
This sweet senior gal, Hope, recently passed away after living a happy, amazing life with her mama. In her memory, her rescue dog loving mom donated $1000 dollars to help another senior and we are hoping to raise $1000 more in memory of YOUR own beloved senior!
If you’ve ever loved a senior dog, please consider a donation in their memory! Please include a picture of your loved one and tell us a little about them in the comment section. Let’s all spend a few moments today remembering the senior dogs that have touched our lives. Those that were so lucky to spend their entire lives next to beloved owners and then let’s pay it forward and give a little bit of HOPE to another homeless senior! ❤️ ... See MoreSee Less
I am donating in honor of my Duke. I adopted him at 15 years old from Senior Dog Haven & Hospice. He was the first senior dog I had ever adopted. After welcoming him to my home, we have since fostered and adopted over 85 dogs. We have been so lucky to love so many senior dogs. We miss you Duke, but you continue to inspire us every day!
Aaawww, hope looks like a sweetheart. 💖
I donated in memory of Shadow, my 18 year old SDHH hospice foster who we recently lost. He was a fantastic, cranky old guy and I’m eternally grateful to SDHH for letting me care for him.
In memory of ..
Casey, Teddy, Molly, Monty,
I donated in memory of SDHH alumni’s Taffy, Tim, Tara and Sugar. Along with Sam, Simba, Reece and Cherokee. Always in my heart ❤️❤️❤️

In honor of my soul mate Bird. This is our last morning together before she passed
away at 16. Our time was always Joyous.
In honor of Wilma, my most recent senior who crossed the rainbow bridge this summer. She was such a sweet and gentle soul who came into my life through Senior Dog Haven 💜. I was her hospice foster mom. May many many other seniors have the chance at a second life through SDH&H!
I’m donating in memory of my sweet heart dog Muffin. I adopted her in 2008 when she maybe 3-5 years old and had to say a tearful goodbye last year from complications of undiagnosed Lyme disease. She went from being an only dog to a pack of 3 and then even more once SDHH dogs came into our lives. She was the alpha leader and was so good to all these old souls that came here … ps make sure your vet tests for Lyme disease, mine didn’t
also AJ who crossed the bridge a few months ago at the age of 23+ one of the older dogs in our rescue. Miss the old dude .,, he knew what was what and what he wanted when he wanted
Sammie, who we adopted knowing he had a serious heart problem, but he lived another seven happy , loving years !
In memory of my first senior foster dog Tamara and my first hospice dog Koda. I hope they know how much they were loved.
My 2nd donation is in honor of Gigi, the first senior dog I've adopted. She came into Senior Dog Haven and Hospice in very poor condition. Long story short, it was love at first sight and the rest is history. I'm so happy to have had Gigi in my life for an amazing four years 💜. I can't thank SDH&H enough for rescuing Gigi and bringing her into my life.
Donated in memory of Flax & Zak.
In loving memory of Sally from SDHH and my Queenie girl.. Still miss you both everyday!
In memory of Gianna💔
Donated for sweet Black Lab Toby. Passed away 1 week ago . 15 plus years old
Donated in loving memory of Dora, who epitomized the Power of Love that helps, and heals, the senior dogs SDHH rescues. Dora went from a sad, sick, confused and frightened blind girl suffering from cancer in a shelter, to a happy member of my SDHH foster family with other hospice fosters - and shared my surname when I was a foster-failure (for the umpteenth time) and adopted her. Thank you Senior Dog Haven & Hospice, Inc. for saving dogs like Dora! And thank you, Dora, for being in my life, and in my heart. Forever.
Donated in memory of my Angel Fox
I'm donating in memory of our senior Dandelion ❤️😔❤️
In memory of Princess P. With Love and Gratitude
What a wonderful way to honor Hope❤️🐾❤️
Thanks to all the beautiful dogs and beautiful memories everyone shared ..
Donated in memory of Freya and Laila. And my current old lady Sweetie
Congrats to our special (medical) needs Callie for scoring a wonderful forever family!! ❤️ This amazing family has adopted from SDHH in the past, and Callie will join Stevie (a blind, deaf diabetic gal) in a loving home. They really stepped up to welcome her in, knowing she may have a limited life span following a positive mammary tumor diagnosis. Cheers to a long and happy last chapter Callie!!💞 ... See MoreSee Less
Callie is THE sweetest gal. So very happy for her!!
I know you’ll miss her ❤️
She’s adapted to our home and neighborhood so well already. Meeting adults and children with a friendly wag, walking on leash, even hanging beside me at a coffeeshop on a mat. But, running the hallway is for her! TY2 SDHH for giving her a second chance.
She is adorable. Happy life sweet baby❤️
Enjoy each and every day sweet girl and kudos to your wonderful new family 🥰
I have a little deaf, blind and diabetic girl.
Thank you beautiful people.. Wish you all the BEST💜🙏💜
