The mission of Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is to rescue and re-home senior dogs (age 7 and older) and to offer hospice care to rescued senior dogs in our program.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that incorporated in June 2012. SDH&H is an all volunteer foster based organization located in Delaware. Our goal is to be there for the older dogs who have been abandoned at a time in their life when their need for comfort, companionship and care is at it’s highest.
We received the great news that Felix's mouth mass was benign. His limping has improved greatly with his new pain meds. His anxiety is still a work in progress but his foster mom and dad continue to work with him. We are so grateful that they’ve taken this guy on and show him so much love despite his challenges. He’s so lucky to have them and we are so lucky to have his family as fosters! ... See MoreSee Less
Chloe has taken on a few roles in her foster home since joining them. She is proudly part of the neighborhood watch. She also enjoys supervising the work that is done by the crew that mows their lawn 🧐. Most recently she has been her foster mom’s emotional support dog by providing her with extra cuddle time and has been a distraction by demanding constant tummy rubs 💜. She senses and knows she is sad because her elderly cat is not doing well. We are grateful this snaggletooth is keeping her company during a tough time. Such a good girl, Chloe! ... See MoreSee Less
Introducing Star. We picked up this gal this morning from ACCT Philly after receiving an email about her dire situation last night. She arrived at the shelter as a stray and has a mammary tumor that has ruptured. She also has severe dental disease: exposed roots and heavy calculus and moderate gingivitis. We believe most of her jaw has been eaten away due to the extent of her dental disease. She is very sweet despite the extreme amount of pain she is in. She went directly to our vet for immediate evaluation. More to come as we get to know her. ... See MoreSee Less

I took one from ACCT as a foster a few months ago. A tiny Yorkie. What few teeth he had were rotten and moving around in his mouth and he was in terrible pain. He could barely get soft food down. We went straight to the surgeon! I spent a fortune fixing the lil guy. He was also nearly bald from flea infestation. We nursed him back to health and then he was adopted by my brother. I drove the dog 900 miles to his forever home.. I’d love to keep helping them but it gets so expensive doing it on my own and I do have kids to feed, so I only take a few a year. I am so grateful that you take the ones in bad shape and help them. I will definitely apply to foster with you! Thank you for all you do for these sweet pups!
Baby girl Coco had a successful dental but she is sooooo tired. Her foster sis, Moxie, is quite worried about her and has been staying close. She will have a recheck in 10 days to make sure she’s at her best and then will hopefully be cleared for her forever home. We love this sweet and sassy gal! ... See MoreSee Less
